Entrevista com o Brandon

Pra movimentar um pouco, aqui um link de uma entrevista recente com o Brandon. Dentre várias coisas, ele conta que esta bastante ansioso com o próximo álbum, que já esta em desenvolvimento. Também falou que devido as "férias" do ano passado - Mike na faculdade, o nascimento da filha do Jose - só agora estão realmente começando a trabalhar no disco, e que todos estão reenergizados.

Enquanto isso, a banda continua em turnê de verão até o dia 28 de agosto quando tocará em São Francisco.

Notícias do Próximo CD

Saiu uma matéria no site CHARTattack com o Mike.

De acordo com ele, as músicas do próximo cd já estão sendo escritas e a banda deve entrar em estúdio no começo do próximo ano - logo após ele concluir o semestre em Harvard - e provavelmente depois começarão uma turnê.

Em relação ao reconhecimento que a banda já alcançou ele declarou:
"Acho que ainda temos a nossa melhor música com a gente mesmo. Se nós não sentirmos isso, nós paramos. E se nós já tivessemos feito nossas melhores músicas e melhores shows, nós não iríamos fazer mais".

Ele está ansioso para fazer o próximo álbum. Apesar dele estar longe, tudo continuará, pois esse é o foco principal. Em relação a ida para a faculdade, Mike falou que o que o motivou a ir, foi a busca por coisas interessantes para ele.

Planet Defenders Award

Mais uma vez o Incubus recebeu um prêmio pelas ações à favor do meio ambiente. A banda foi premiada na categoria "Artista" com o 2009 Planet Defender Awards.

Através da ONG Make Yourself Foundation, a banda arrecadou para caridade, mais de um milhão de dolares até a premiação. Arrecadações através de leilões de instrumentos, objetos pessoais, ingressos para meet & greet, shows especiais. O já conhecido uso de biodisel nos carros e ônibus usados na última turnê pelos Estados Unidos. Também a utilização de papel reciclado e tinta à base de soja na impressão de posters e flyers, comida orgânica servidas no camarim, camisetas feitas com material orgânico. Isso tudo além do trabalho que fazem em vários lugares estimulando a reciclagem e a preservação do meio ambiente.

Brandon disse: "Nós estamos muito felizes por ter essa incrível oportunidade de compartilhar música com tanta gente. E estamos muito orgulhosos em compartilhar essa consciência com todos que vem e nos ouvem. Muito obrigado. Talvés esse seja mais um degrau na escada, para um planeta melhor e mais consciente".

Outros artistas que já receberam o mesmo prêmio foram: Dave Matthews Band (em 2008), Barenaked Ladies (em 2007) e Jack Johnson (em 2006).

2009 Planet Defenders Award

Colorado-based environmental organization Rock the Earth has announced its 2009 Planet Defender Awards, in conjunction with their national Rock the Earth Day celebration. Grammy-nominated rock band Incubus, Green For All Founder Van Jones, and Jessy Tolkan, Executive Director of the Energy Action Coalition, were selected as the winners in three categories. Planet Defender recipients are nominated by Rock the Earth members and chosen by Rock the Earth's National Volunteer Staff.

This year's winner in the ARTIST category, Grammy-nominated Incubus, funds the Make Yourself Foundation, which has raised over One Million dollars to date. The band funds the foundation by donating a portion of the proceeds generated from touring, record royalties, online auctions of concert tickets and memorabilia, and special events, to support various causes and charities both locally and around the world. Fueling their tour buses with clean-burning biodiesel, printing posters and flyers on 100-percent post-consumer recycled paper with soy ink, serving organic food backstage, offering fans organic cotton T-shirts and working with venues to increase recycling are just a few of the other steps the band has taken to ensure it stays green.

Brandon Boyd said: "We are so fortunate to have this amazing opportunity to share music with so many people! And we are very proud to share Earth consciousness with those who come and listen. Thank you very much! And may this be just another rung in the ladder towards a brighter, more aware planet."

Mais umas novas sobre o 'Greatest Hits'.
O cd irá chamar-se "Monuments and Melodies", o lançamento esta marcado para dia 5 de maio. A arte da capa será baseada nos desenhos do Brandon.
A música inédita, "Black Heart Inertia" será lançada próximo dia 17 (março) na rádio americana Modern Rock. Também esta previsto um video para essa música, que deverá ser feito no fim desse mês.
Também há planos de disponibilizar para download (para os que comprarem o cd) um 'pacote' digital de fotos, videos, gravações, entrevistas, feitos durante os últimos 10 anos.

The album is called "Monuments and Melodies". It is a 2 disc set as previously reported and will officially be released on May 5th. The cover art is based on a Brandon Boyd drawing.

A brand new track called "Black Heart Inertia" will be released to Modern Rock radio on March 17th so you'll get a chance to hear something new very soon. A video for the song is planned and would likely be shot in the last week of March and be available soon after.

On May 10th or thereabouts (assuming no snafus and a completed tour itin) you'll be able to pre-order the album which will entitle you to signup for an Incubus fan presale for the upcoming tour which will start July 9 in San Diego and end in Dallas on 8/22. Folks who buy the album will designate which city (only one) they would like to buy tickets for and would be able to purchase up to 4 tickets prior to the tickets going on sale to the general public. The list of cities the band will visit is as follows and subject to change.

San Diego, Santa Barbara, Las Vegas, Hollywood, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Denver, KC, Chicago, Indianapolis, ST Louis, Cinci, Detroit, Columbus, Cleveland, Toronto, Boston, New York, New Jersey, Philly, DC, Virginia Beach, Charlotte, Atlanta, Tampa, Miami, Houston, and Dallas.

In addition, a special digital vault is planned where Incubus fans can view and download hundreds of private photos taken by the band over the last 10 years as well as rare video footage, recordings, interviews etc.

Serão 2 cds. Um tratá as músicas já conhecidas (lançadas em singles) e 2 músicas inéditas chamadas "Midnight Swim" (diferente da que faz parte da trilha do dvd Look Alive) e "Black Heart Inertia".
O segundo cd será apenas de músicas raras. Incluindo uma cover gravada em dez/jan no estúdio, versões diferentes das já conhecidas "Neither of Us Can See" e "Pantomime", e também a (quarta) música que foi feita para a trilha do filme "Stealth" que não entrou na trilha.

No verão americano, mais precisamente na primeira semana de julho até a última de agosto, a banda fará uma pequena turnê nos EUA.

From the manager:

"It will definitely be 2 discs. Disc One (Singles ) will contain 13 previously released singles and 2 brand new tracks, "Black Heart Inertia" and "Midnight Swim" recorded this past December/January. Disc Two (Rarities) will include 11 tracks from the Incubus vaults. Amongst the tracks are some real nuggets including the first and only properly recorded cover song the band has ever done (I'll let you guys keep guessing), unreleased versions of Pantomime and Neither of Us Can See, the long lost Stealth track (dusted off and recently polished up), and a couple of other tracks that have never been heard outside the band 'family'. I think it will be a great little collectors item.

In addition, we are putting the final touches on a summer tour of the US. The tour is scheduled to start around the first week of July and continue thru the last week of August. Most of the dates will be in outdoor amphitheaters but the band will likely do a couple of other fun type dates along the way as well. The general public on sale date will likely be in the end of April or early May.

Prior to the release of the album Incubus fans who pre-order the album will receive a unique code which will allow them to participate in an Incubus Fan presale to buy tickets to an upcoming concert in your city prior to the General Public on sale. The exact dates will be made available later but it will be just like the LG Theater tour thing we did last time, just a bit bigger venues which will allow us to accomodate all of fans this time around."
